THE GOLD RUSH AND THE INDUSTRIALISTS

the men, women, and machines that made history.

The California Gold Rush and the Industrialists of the East reshaped the American landscape. Gold, silver, oil, railroads, banking, electricity, steel, telecommunications, and the automobile powered a new industrial order.

What remains is evidence of history that makes the present.

In this work, I return to the sites where that transformation took form—mining regions in the West and industrial corridors in the East. I am drawn to the structures that endure: mills, mines, rail lines, factories, banking halls, transmission systems.

My approach is direct. I study form, material, and scale. Contrast is deliberate. Detail is sharpened. At times the familiar takes on abstraction.

I invite you to where documentation and interpretation converge.
